Online Store of Coca Cola India, Coca Cola Home Delivery Store

Coca Cola India Launches Online Home Delivery Store:

Coca-Cola India has launched a new site at Coke2home.com that will home deliver all Coca Cola products to users, reports Times of India. At the time of writing this article, the initiative seems to be in pilot stage and the site notes that it currently delivers only in Ahmadabad municipal corp.

The site offers products such as energy drinks, juice drinks, mixers, soda, and packaged drinking water and notes that it offers delivery only for orders above Rs 300. Besides individual orders, it also offers bulk orders or monthly based orders. However, it’s unclear whether the site offers any discount on bulk orders.

One just needs to register on the site with their name, email address, and location for a regular order. For a bulk order, one has to fill a form on the site to connect with the company representative. We were not able to test the service as it’s available only in Ahmadabad. However, it appears that once a user places an order, the company provides them with an order number that they can track on its website. It claims that orders placed before 12 noon will be delivered on the same day.

On Mobile: Coca Cola has also launched a mobile version of the site accessible at m.coke2home.com. Alternatively, the site also provides a QR code that users can scan which leads to the mobile version of the site on their mobile browser.

Cracking the FMCG market is tough as usually people expect these products to be delivered the same day or as quick as possible. For companies to offer FMCG products online, they would have to tie up with brick and mortar stores to offer quick delivery or build up their own delivery mechanism. The latter one could be a costly venture.

FMCG Products on Internet:

In October 2012, Mumbai-based KeenBean Retail Pvt. Ltd had launched e-commerce portal Foodesto.com, which offers organic gourmet and specialty food items and kitchen accessories. In December 2011, Gourmet Company, a company which offers gourmet food products and gift items, had launched its e-commerce store Gourmetco.in. The online store claimed to feature 400 gourmet food products including herbal blend teas, cookies, cereals, jams & marmalades, salad dressings, mustards rare coffees, pastas and Mediterranean food ingredients, among others.

Besides that, Indiatimes* also offers organic food items across various categories including cereals, spices, health food, pulses and others, through its recently launched ayurvedic and and organic products online store Satvikshop.com.

AaramShop, a Delhi based startup, is looking to monetize online grocery shopping in a rather unusual manner: instead of retailing groceries themselves, they’re tying up with mom-and-pop (kirana) stores and taking orders for them for free, while charging brands for promoting their wares to those online.

Bangalore based BigBasket claims to offer 10,000 products across several categories like fruits & vegetables, groceries and staple provisions, bread & bakery products, toiletries, branded food & non-food products, dairy products, household provisions, confectioneries and frozen food such as Ice Creams and others. It also has a fleet of 50 Omni vans and claims to deliver products within six hours of an order being placed by the customer. There are other players such as  MyGrahak.com and ZopNow which also offers online grocery shopping.

Shopping:Retailers hope back-to-school season will boost spending

It's the actual height summer, nevertheless inside of many Baltimore-area stores, fall has arrived.

While shoppers sorted through racks discounted shorts and tank tops, retailers placed at White Marsh Mall began displaying school backpacks and uniforms. Area Target stores provided plenty summer picnic gear nevertheless devoted extensive display space to notebooks, pencils, folders and glue. And while some consumers said they can't think just about school purchases until right after family vacations, office supply stores such just as Staples began promoting back-to-school computers, laptops and iPads.

After a new disappointing start to summer as for some retailers, many hope as for a new boost coming from back-to-school shopping, the actual second-biggest sales period the actual year. nevertheless consumers, weighed straight down simply by economic woes such just as high unemployment and elevated gas prices, likely will wait as for last-minute sales, comparison shop more than general or just make do with what they have, some experts said.
"Most middle-income consumers are going to be very selective within what they purchase," said Ken Perkins, president Retail Metrics, a new Boston-based research firm. "Consumers are still feeling cautious and uncertain just about where things are headed. as for a new vast majority households, they're going to buy what they need and not a new lot beyond the bounds that."

Tanasha Siena, an Edgewood resident whose family was reduced to a new single income when she began staying home with her 16-month-old son, said rising costs as for food and other necessities have made her even more price conscious. When it comes to getting her 13-year-old son ready as for eighth grade, her strategy is to buy only what he needs, supplement with leftover school supplies and shop placed at off-price chains such just as Marshalls to get brand names placed at a new discount.

"I'd rather dig through the actual racks" to find a new bargain, Siena said. "As they get older, it's more expensive, because now I'm buying men's clothing and men's shoes, and $120 calculators. If I see something on sale ... and I think the actual price is good, I'll get it."

Though the actual season that starts just as early just as July and runs through mid-September is much less a new make-or-break time as for retailers than end-of-year holiday shopping, it's still important to discounters, department stores, teen and children-oriented specialty shops, and electronics and office supply merchants.

U.S. retailers were expected to have back-to-school and back-to-college sales $68 billion last year, four to five times the actual sales typically generated simply by the actual next-biggest annual holiday, Mother's Day, according to the actual National Retail Federation. the actual group, which has not yet released a new 2012 back-to-school forecast, had said the actual average family with students within kindergarten through high school would spend just about $600 last year, just about the actual same just as within 2010.

To drive spending mid low consumer confidence, retailers have been barring more than general this summer, said Nancy Liu, a new retail strategist placed at Kurt Salmon within New York.

"I think a new lot retailers are looking toward back-to-school and back-to-buying," Liu said. "Retailers are hoping to see a new resurgence just as consumers are forced to go back" to stores.

To bring shoppers through the actual doors, retailers are expected to compete with heavy promotions and discounts.
"It's a new crucial selling season as for them, and they are going to do just as much just as they can to leverage it and drive sales within their stores and online," Perkins said. "It will be a new pretty promotional back-to-school shopping period. Retailers will have to be aggressive within markdowns and offering incentives as for consumers to come in."
"Door-buster" deals coming from Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and other retailers have started, with deals such just as packs pens and crayons as for a new penny — until supplies run out.

"These things are used to get people through the actual door, and it works," said Maggie Miller, a new frugal living expert and blogger coming from Centreville within Queen Anne's County.

More consumers are becoming aware that competing retailers often will match a new low price if shoppers bring them a new circular advertising a new sale, Miller said. "More and more people are price-matching. the actual trend is to save more money now because people are so worried just about the actual economy."

Denise Ruby, a new Bowleys Quarters resident shopping Wednesday placed at White Marsh with daughter Megan, 13, said she'll likely take her to some favorite stores — Aeropostale, Hot Topic and Spencer's, nevertheless will look as for sales and stick to a new budget. And she's within no rush, preferring to wait until closer to the actual start school.
"I have a new certain amount money put off as for school purchases — and that's it," Ruby said.

Retailers can only hope that the actual improving optimism noted simply by one forecast released last week pans out. According to a new consumer survey simply by PriceGrabber, a new website that tracks and compares retail prices, 63 percent the actual respondents said they plan to spend up to $500 this year on back-to-school gear, compared with 48 percent last year. Twenty percent said they plan to spend $500 to $1,000.

According to the study, the single biggest annoyance that shoppers have with the online commerce experience is “entering payment, billing and shipping information,” particularly from a mobile device. Shopping Online:Retailers demand clearer view of online shopping

A prominent retailers group has urged the Australian Bureau of Statistics to give more detail on the surging 'other' retail sales category to shed light on how quickly online sales have expanded.

The ABS breaks down retailing into a range of categories including food retailing, household goods and clothing, but it does not have a category specifically for online sales within those existing groups.

Online retailing is in the ‘other’ retailing area, so you don’t know what percentage of that ‘other’ retailing is the online,” said Australian Retailers Association executive director Russell Zimmerman.

An analysis by BusinessDay showed that in original terms, or the raw amount spent by consumers, 'other' categories have soared since 2009 while sales in the department stores category have weakened. Australia’s established retailers, including Myer, David Jones and Harvey Norman, have found themselves under intense pressure from online competition in recent years. Retailers argue that the lack of detailed official statistics for online shopping makes it difficult to understand what consumers are spending online and for what sorts of goods.

The ABS confirmed that online sales were captured throughout the survey and included in overall sales data. Dedicated online retailers like DealsDirect or electronics retailer Kogan, however, were classified as “other retailing, not elsewhere classified”. That designation also included non-store retailing, mail-order sales and catalogue sales, which cloud the picture on the growth of online sales.

While turnover in the 'other retailing not elsewhere classified' category increased 13.8 per cent between 2009 and 2011, department store turnover fell 3.4 per cent over the same period.

In February, retail sales grew 0.2 per cent to $20.9 billion seasonally adjusted. In original terms retail sales totalled $19.03 billion in the month, with department store turnover at $1.13 billion. Also, in original terms, 'other retailing' accounted for $2.77 billion, of which $986 million was 'other retailing not elsewhere classified'.

“The ABS is seen as an authority figure on retail figures,” said Mr Zimmerman. If the ABS could deliver figures showing how much the online space is growing, bricks and mortar retailers would likely show less resistance in embracing the new channel, he said.

The statistics bureau, however, said there were no plans to split out online sales as a separate category to traditional sales.

"As yet, there are no current plans to disaggregate the online spending associated with 'multi-channel' establishments and 'pure play' online retailers as recommended by the Productivity Commission," said a spokeswoman for the ABS.

EBay India:EBay Targets India Growth, EBay Online Shopping India

EBay Online Shopping India:

Web-retailing giant eBay Inc. is fine-tuning its India strategy and investing more money as e-commerce soars in the country.

The San Jose, California, company is trying to steer Indian consumers toward buying high-margin products such as clothes and shoes--as is the trend among eBay shoppers in the West--rather than electronic gadgets and books, which are the most popular choices now but command lower profit margins and are less frequent purchases.

At the moment, eBay gets nearly 80% of its business in India from selling new fixed-price items such as cameras, cellphones, laptops, music players and flat-panel televisions.

"India is among the fastest-growing markets and has been identified as one of the significant potential markets for the company," Muralikrishnan B., country manager at eBay's India unit, said recently.

He declined to say how much the India unit contributed to its parent's annual revenue. He also didn't say how much money the company is planning to invest in India.

The stakes are pretty big. India's nascent e-commerce market, which till recently was largely limited to people buying train, flight and movie tickets, is in the middle of a surge as a younger, tech-savvy middle class increasingly takes to shopping online in a country seeing rapid growth in Internet usage.

Consulting firm Technopak predicts a $70-billion annual market by 2020, up from $600 million now, which is just 0.05% of global online shopping. EBay itself estimates India's online shopping market in 2012 will grow close to 100%, and "it might accelerate even further."

The market's promise is attracting other global players such as Amazon.com Inc., Alibaba.com Ltd. and Groupon Inc. as well as a host of local startups such as Flipkart.com and Snapdeal.com.

"A lot of the large global internet guys missed out on the Chinese internet opportunity," said Snapdeal Chief Executive Kunal Bahl. "So India is of great strategic importance to a lot of companies out there."

To support the transition from electronics to lifestyle products, eBay India has recently roped in local and global fashion and apparel brands such as Bata, Reebok, Fabindia and Catwalk.

To make Indians more comfortable with online purchases--which still aren't regarded as a very financially secure process by many Indians--eBay offers the PaisaPay payment system, which is an escrow-like service, as local regulations don't allow it to operate its PayPal global digital payments platform in the country.

The company is also trying to get small businessmen such as jewelers and handicraft-makers to use its platform for exports, putting it in direct competition with Alibaba.com.

Ebay was among the first entrants into India's e-commerce segment, acquiring local e-commerce site Baazee.com in 2004 and launching local operations in 2005. It now has over three million registered users for its trading platform.

Amazon.com Inc. entered India last month with the launch of its price-comparison platform Junglee.com. Chinese business-to-business e-commerce company Alibaba.com Ltd. and U.S.-based daily deals operator Groupon Inc. are also fighting it out here.

Competition from Amazon is expected to heat up when foreign multi-brand retailers are allowed to sell directly to Indian consumers--which local laws currently don't permit.

According to online measurement firm ComScore, eBay topped the ranking of auction sites in India in February.

In an effort to keep the lead, eBay India--which offers applications that allow shopping over mobile phone platforms like the iPhone, Android and Windows--is investing in improving its services, Mr. Muralikrishnan said.

Mr. Muralikrishnan added that, despite the Indian market opportunity, not every e-commerce business model would succeed, noting that the current crop of niche online players and some daily deals operators are especially vulnerable.

Consolidation is already underway in the industry, with Flipkart acquiring another startup, Letsbuy.com, last month.

Ebay itself has received feelers from "quite a few players" that need capital to grow, Mr. Muralikrishnan said.

While eBay is not looking at an immediate acquisition, it continues to "evaluate opportunities," he added.

Shopping Online Site Snapdeal to increase headcount

E-Commerce major Snapdeal plans to increase its headcount over the next six months by adding 500 people.

Snapdeal, which claims to have over 15 million users, employs about 1,000 people at present.

"We have seen 80-90 per cent growth in traffic month-on-month over the last three quarters. We have been gradually increasing the pace of hiring and over the next six months, we will add about 500 people," Snapdeal Chief Executive Director Kunal Behl told PTI.

The addition would be done in the areas of engineering and analytics, he added.

"Given the competition in the eCommerce space, what would differentiate one player from the other would be the customer experience both while online and offline. The focus on analytics and platform will help us provide that experience," Behl said.

With 100 million Internet users, India is a very lucrative market for retailers and they are vying for the customer's attention with the widest range of products, he added.

Asked about investment, Bahl said the company would invest close to USD 20 million this year on organic and inorganic growth routes.

Snapdeal is keen on acquisitions to fuel its growth. "We have received some proposals. We would look at companies, which offer us a good technology platform or a very good team. There is no firm plan but we are looking at options," he said.

There has been a recent spurt in the number of e-commerce websites, offering customers everything from baby diapers to real estate.

Recently, global leader Amazon also forayed into India to compete with firms like Fashionandyou.com, Yebhi.com and eBay, govasool.com.

According to a white paper by First Data Corporation and ICICI Merchant Services, the domestic e-commerce market is expected to touch Rs 50,000 crore in 2011 from Rs 19,688 crore in 2009.

Though a major chunk still comes from online travel through booking of flights, railway tickets, hotels and cars, the share of retail industry is growing on the back of discounted pricing, speed of delivery, security and convenience of payment.

amazon india junglee:An online shopping service launched by Amazon India

Amazon.com on Thursday flowed into India — not on its own but by using one of its offshoots. The world’s largest online retailer dusted off a website, Junglee.com, it bought 14 years ago and launched it in the country.
Amazon is obviously waiting for the government’s multi-brand retail FDI (foreign direct investment) policy before it comes in directly.

Junglee.com will not compete with established e-commerce sites like Flipkart or eBay and is being positioned as an online shopping service that will help customers discover products from other websites (including Amazon.com). When users select or choose to buy a product from Junglee.com, they would be redirected to the seller’s website.

Each seller will be responsible for shipping, will have their own refund and return policies and payment modules. Amit Agarwal, vice-president, Amazon.com, said, “The selection on Junglee includes more than nine million books and three million products from more than 14,000 Indian and global brands. Junglee would be that shopping platform where users can discover and compare products easily without going from one site to another.”
Not surprisingly, Flipkart and eBay are not part of the websites one can visit using the Junglee.com platform.
Amazon’s entry as a shopping catalogue aggregator is not being viewed as a threat by Indian counterparts. OLX.in, an online classifieds site which also merely connects buyers and sellers, claims it is not “just a meta shopping search tool like Amazon”. Amarjit Batra, country head of OLX.in, said, “We are a marketplace for local listings that include real estate to automobiles and Amazon is beginning with just shopping categories. We have not only more services and products for users than Amazon’s Junglee.com but also have an established network of buyers and sellers.” The site draws over 10 million users every month, claims Batra.

Experts say leading e-commerce sites like Flipkart need to watch Amazon’s entry carefully.
Benoy C S, director (ICT Practice), Frost & Sullivan, South Asia & Middle East, said, “While there is no immediate threat to existing e-commerce players, Amazon’s intention would be to establish itself as a full-fledged e-commerce portal eventually in India. That could be a cause for worry.”

Flipkart played a generous rival and welcomed the move. CEO Sachin Bansal said, "We believe FDI will go a long way in improving efficiency in the supply chain and also invite investment in relevant areas. It will bring down the overall costs in the system, leading to larger benefits for the Indian consumer. As far as the e-commerce sector is concerned, we are already witnessing significant investments in the supply chain and technology and we expect this to get a further boost, going forward."

India, with its 100 million internet users, is an attractive market for online retail. ComScore data indicate 54 per cent of the online population in India accesses retail services (websites) online. Data also show that around 10 per cent of the online population in India visits comparison shopping sites, the fourth largest retail category online. The top online retail categories, according to ComScore data, are computer software, consumer electronics and computer hardware.

Amazon, which set up its first warehouse in India last year, had said the move would make product shipments faster and cheaper. For now, Amazon products (like Kindle) ordered via Junglee.com will be shipped and charged the usual international product duties and taxes. Analysts maintained that with cost being a critical factor in online shopping, Amazon cannot compete with local players who can ship products at much cheaper rates.

For now, Junglee.com integrates with online and offline retailers, lists their entire selection of products available in India and uses Amazon’s search technology that enables customers to navigate and find what they are looking for quickly. Junglee also uses the same recommendation engine technology as Amazon.com, such as displaying the “Most Frequently Viewed Products” or “Customers Who Viewed This Product Also Viewed”.

Agarwal underlined that Junglee.com would look to tap local businesses and retailers, too. “Our goal with Amazon Seller Services is to help retailers of all sizes succeed and grow their business online. We will invest in helping local businesses build their brand and increase sales, while lowering the cost of selling their products online,” he said. Currently, Amazon is allowing Indian sellers to place their ads on its network for free.
Ram Shriram, founding board member of Google and one of the first investors in Google, headed Junglee that was acquired by Amazon.com in August 1998.

Confessions of a DVD Shopaholic:Bollywood Journal

My mouse on the "Add to cart" again. I'm shopping for DVD, once again. All it takes is for a friend in Twitter to describe a scene or a Youtube clip of a song to show incredible future, and I'm running out of DVDs to add even more to my growing stash. And in an average of about $ 7 each, it is hard to resist.

Online shopping makes it so easy. Most websites allow you to search for movies by the famous names involved. There are the easy option of seeking the "all-star cast," director or producer, and also the musical director of the utmost importance, singer and lyricist.

I love these options, not so much because they tend to go hunting for Kalyanji-Anandji movies worked (though I, now that I think), but because they are a perfect reflection of how music is integral to the film and how experience and remember them.

Some sites like Eros International and Induna. com provide structured routes for their products, with the categories in the navigation bar. If you're in the mood to explore, can be fun to follow these instructions for rabbit holes to the unknown treasures. Categories such as language, gender, price and new version I have never been particularly inspired, but the search for ten years has led many jewels in the 1970s, an era that rarely disappoints. You can even explore the supply of a particular DVD maker. This last category is surprisingly useful after having half a dozen DVDs sudden jump in unemployment, or subtitles that are totally unrelated to the scene they accompany.

It is certainly easier than buying individual movies. The biggest problem with the video stores I visited in the U.S. The United Kingdom and India is that everyone seems to sort and show your unique selections and criteria uninitiated, often imperceptible. To see whether other shops movie fans as mysterious as I do, I recently took to Twitter to ask: "How local businesses organize your movies Indian DVD (not language): alphabetical order? Hero? Director? music director? "

Several friends from around the world, immediately said variations of "organized? Ja" "Organized store? You never seen," said a Mumbaikar. "It's a free for all," laughed a student from Florida. In Missouri, someone reported a breakdown of film language, either in color or black and white, then alphabetically by title. The defendant has been found Brooklyn shops that force buyers to meet their ethical stance on DVD piracy rating their products in smuggling and legal. A friend in Calcutta described its stores using just two criteria: the new release and classic, with the latter simply a catchall for anything that is not the first, an unusual use and the book value of the word "classic ".

The shops to visit in Devon Avenue in Chicago tend to emphasize the new Hindi releases the cash register, and the rest of the store is organized by the language and then hero. Taking into account what the audience experiences, and often violent love-about the supreme importance of the male protagonist of the popular films, this plan makes sense. It also reflects how many directors seem to conceive of their productions.

Not all male stars deserve this treatment. Headed by Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar, Khan and Akshay Kumar may usually be found without much trouble. However, in a single store I've ever seen the categories of actors beyond a sort of generic "top-ten leading men of all time." We all know what a hero and who is he playing in a particular film, but who decides what major actors or popular enough to merit its own section?

I have to assume this system works well enough for the shops, which do not adhere to it. It certainly works if you are looking for a film Big B in particular (but never have, "Toofan" a lamentable film, according to almost all the reviews I've read, which however has been in the top of my list Shopping for a year.) But what if you want to find a movie with - shock! - A woman? Where are all the movies starring Madhubala, Rekha or Smita Patil?

They may be in the large "everything else" section, but you'd need to know the titles of the films listed in alphabetical order. And what about the directors or multi-starring movie? Or the stories of brothers with the same importance? And if the only store has a copy of "Sholay", often considered the best Hindi film and most popular of all time, where do you?

Despite all these obstacles, there is still brick and mortar stores of satisfaction that the websites, although they have fewer options and are more aggravating to use. I love having a handful of movies and flip through them, actually weighing my decision. The options you feel more important. Maybe it's the possibility of unexpected treasures lurking among the failures, the joy of chance.

A notable victory was in one of my favorite DVD stores on Devon Avenue, when a friend, having spent 15 minutes delving through the discount bin, emerged triumphant with "Khoon Bhari Maang" (aka "Rekha is maimed by a crocodile and becomes a supermodel "for those who have not seen this masterpiece of 1988, the glitz and revenge). On another occasion, after finding "Dharam Veer" in a little shop full Southall in London, which won over my head with both hands and let out, to the surprise of my colleagues and staff at the store, " I win! "
